Our History

Our Journey

From inception in 1983, ICC continues to be a multi-cultural and multi-racial English speaking urban church with a big heart for the lost in the city; targeting Nairobi’s un-churched urban English speaking population.

Due to the high influx of people into the city of Nairobi, the problem of informal suburbs, HIV/AIDS, poverty and unemployment has become ICC’s social-cultural mandate in seeking interventions that will assist in handling the needs of these low incomers. International Christian Centre through its Non Profit Organization (Zinduka Afrika) works within the informal settlements of Kibera, Mathare, and Mukuru and other parts of the country (i.e. Lamu, the Wata and un-reached peoples who live in the dry Northern part of Kenya). The objective of the programmes is to improve the overall livelihoods of people living in these areas through targeted interventions to address shelter, education, teenage pregnancies, insecurity, micro-finance, and employment issues.

Children are at the heart of any thriving church. As ICC, our partnership with One Hope has provided us the opportunity to reach hundreds of thousands of primary and high school going children with the gospel. Our creative approach to ministry towards to the youth and children include the use of sports through the partnership we have with Ambassadors In Sports – Kenya. ICC is also using a creative approach to the universities through “The Journey” that is now attracting over 500 unchurched young people every weekend. Our Masters Commission program has seen us engage our young people (aged 17-25) in various missions and community projects.

As we grow bigger we have to grow smaller through our Connection Groups “CGs”. It is through such small groups that we will build and challenge each other to grow spiritually and become like Christ, serve in the body and go for missions. Our family ministry continues to be strong and a model to the city. We have been in the lead in the introduction of Pre-Marital Counseling that begun way back in 1990’s. To date we give training to over 100 engaged couples a year with 50% of them coming from other churches including mainline churches.

Finally, our mission statement helps us in engaging our people to be the generation that will Change the World.
